Day 4 - Wexford and Kilmore Quay

We knew there was going to be a lot of rain later today so went out early to visit Wexford Town.   It rained lightly on and off but we managed to walk around the town including the waterfront.   It is smaller than Waterford and had a good sized pedestrianised area.  There are train tracks running along the waterfront although it doesnt look like it is used anymore.  We had tea and cake at a cafe and when we had finished the sun was out and it was quite warm.

When our parking ticket expired we decided to go to Kilmore Quay on the south coast.  This was a lovely little town and resort.  The wind was getting stronger so we decided to walk as much as we could before having our lunch.  We managed the harbour and a circular walk to the west where there is a memorial park dedicated to those lost at sea before it started to blow a gale and heavy rain started.  We went back to the car, had a coffee and our lunch.  The rain eased but it was still windy.  I just wanted to walk back up the road we came in on as there were lots of attractive thatched roofed houses.  I did this alone and as I got back to the car it started raining again so we came back to our cottage and had a rest before packing ready to leave tomorrow.

We went into New Ross to eat at the recommended Italian Restaurant called Il Primo.  It was excellent.  After a short walk along the river we came back to our accommodation.

Day 13 Howth Head to Llandudno

Day 16 Conwy to Home

Our last day started with Conwy parkrun.  I won a box of chocolates at their weekly trivia quiz where we had to guess the length of the Conwy River in kms.  I was spot on with 55kms.  Really loved this scenic parkrun and got a good time of exactly 29 mins.   Conwy parkrun   Conwy parkrun   Conwy castle from parkrun start   We went back for breakfast and left for home.  Our lunch stop was at Attringham National Trust property near Shrewsbury.  It was very hot so we just walked around the grounds and had our lunch before continuing home.   Attringham Grounds   Attringham Hall   Attringham Walled Garden   Attringham Grounds - River Tern   Attringham NT

Day 14 Llandudno

After breakfast we headed to Llandudno. It is a lovely traditional seaside resort with a wide promenade, pier and Punch and Judy.  We walked around the town and then to the pier.  There are a lot of tourist shops and kiosks all along the pier but plenty of seating as well. The cable car wasnt working, presumably too windy, so we tried to get the tram.  However there was about a 90 minute wait and the queue was right down the road.  So we walked along the tram route to the first station then headed off over the cliff We found a rock to sit on for our lunch stop and were joined by a female Wheatear. We went back to the town via a different route which took us past a toboggan run and a very nice park. The Punch and Judy show was in full swing.
